Catalog description
This course is designed to help students gain a comprehensive understanding of the American Musical (Broadway) Theater literature in an historic context from the mid-19th century (operatic, folk music) to the contemporary large-scale productions of today. The curriculum will explore not only how this unique art form has evolved musically, but also dramatically both in terms of dramaturgy and theatrical design. Prerequisites: MHIS 011 , MHIS 012 .
