MAPM 223 (2 units). 50 minutes. This course is for graduate level music majors for whom two-unit lessons may meet degree requirements. Students in this course develop: technical skills requisite for artistic self-expression at a level appropriate for the particular music concentration; an overview understanding of the repertory in the applied area and the ability to perform from a cross-section of that repertory and; the ability to read at sight with fluency demonstrating both general musicianship and a level of skill relevant to professional standards appropriate for the particular music concentration. MAPM 223 is intended to be the 3rd course in a sequence of graduate-level applied instruction for students in which applied music may be a supportive course. The course builds on baccalaureate level skills developed and/or demonstrated previously. Students enrolled in this course pay Pacific’s Conservatory Program Fee. Prerequisites: MAPM 222 , MAPM 232 or MAPM 242 .
