Catalog description
Students study the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical features of diseases. Students learn to recognize basic tissue, reactions and lesions and describe them using professional medical terminology, and through data collection, learn to assist in the preliminary diagnosis of oral conditions. Emphasis is placed on lesions that occur in the oral and maxillofacial regions. However, general pathology introductions necessary to understand the pathologic processes of oral lesions and conditions will be discussed. Common systemic diseases that may manifest in the mouth or impact oral healthcare delivery will also be presented.
