Catalog description
In this course, candidates will learn strategies to support students' competencies as fluent readers and writers in the humanities and social sciences as well as across content area experiences. Candidates will build on their conceptual understandings of literacy development and include multi-literacies. The course will cover literacy methods and assessments used in math, science, social studies, and arts for grades K-6. Methods instruction will integrate literacy and content area state and national standards. The course will include explanations and applications for differentiating instructional strategies for students, approaches to content area assessment and instructions, and technological resources to meet the wide range of literacy, language, learning, and cognitive abilities of children in grades K-6. Fieldwork is required. This course is required of all undergraduate Childhood Education majors."
