Magical Realism is a transformation of the common and the everyday into the magical and the unreal. It is an art of surprises. We will study the very particular way that Magical Realism functions in the context of Latin America, works we will study many include Garcia Marquez’ One Hundred Years of Solitude, Jorge Amado’s Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands and Laura Esquivel’s Like Water for Chocolate.
