UK Society and Culture

Catalog description

This course is specifically for students enrolled in the First-Year Experience in London, and will provide an introductory overview of a range of key features of UK society and culture. It will define the terms ‘culture’ and ‘society’ before examining UK social structure, political structure and the monarchy, health and the welfare state, the economy, innovation and technology, and popular culture and the media. The course concludes by inviting students to reflect on similarities and differences between UK culture and society and other cultures and societies.
