This web-enhanced course is designed as an advanced level course on cognitive principles associated with learning from media (visual, textual, and audio presentation) and the application of these principles to the design of multimedia instruction for effective teaching and learning. Drawing from years of research in cognitive and educational psychology, this course provides materials based on the cognitive theory of multimedia learning and principles for the design of multimedia presentations. The course aims to help students realize the potential of using words (text and/or audio material) and visual elements (pictures, videos, icons) to promote learning. Students will learn about the basic principles of multimedia instructional design and demonstrate their knowledge by completing a multimedia project that adheres to these principles. This course relies heavily on the use of Blackboard’s discussion board.Restrictions/Requirements:pre-req or permission of Instructor.
