This course explores the relationship between international law and human rights in theory and in practice. We examine the tension between sovereignty and human rights, debates around what types of human rights should be protected, the advantages and disadvantages of using international law to address human rights violations, and the role of human rights advocates and defenders. Possible issues include torture, gender and racial violence, indigenous rights, refugees, labor rights, climate change, and more.Credit Badge: Immigration Advocacy and Policy.
