Contemporary Political Philosophy

Catalog description

This course will explore contemporary texts in philosophy in order to interrogate the tradition of classical political philosophy. The course will also revisit questions about the nature of justice and how it applies to contemporary political issues related to race, class, sex, gender, disability, and incarceration. Thinkers will include Cinzia Arruzza, Liat Ben-Moshe, Tithi Bhattacharya, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Angela Davis, Enrique Dussel, Lewis Gordon, Patricia Hill-Collins, and Mariame Kaba.
