Catalog description

This course will introduce students from all performing arts disciplines to the importance of Consent and Best Practices in our creative process. What is Theatrical Intimacy? What does an Intimacy Professional do? How can we promote responsible story-telling and creative spaces? How can we use the tenets of theatrical intimacy and consent-based practices to dismantle the hierarchical and oppressive systems in the hierarchy of institutional structure? Lessons will be inspired by the leaders in the field of Theatrical Intimacy from Theatrical Intimacy Education, Intimacy Directors and Coordinators, Open Intimacy and Lucid Body – coupled with readings from noted theorists, cultural activists and change-makers. Lessons will be based in theory and practice (how-tos, discussions around consent, boundaries, expectations, self-care, choreographic process and more).
