Jazz Pedagogy is the theory and practice of teaching jazz technique to assess and train students in a logical, progressive, and responsible manner. This course includes an overview of different methodologies for teaching jazz pedagogy and applying them in practice through class observation, self-observation, and peer assessment. This course also includes tap and jazz dance history through lectures and presentations. There is an embodied history component to the course where students study and physically learn to execute relevant historical techniques that lead to the foundations of jazz training. You must have completed four semesters of jazz to enroll in this course.
