Catalog description

This course is designed to supply the actor with training in singing, acting, auditioning, and performance techniques for musical theatre. Students will analyze song lyrics and familiarize themselves with musical theatre repertoire, terminology, and style. Developing strong warm up and practice habits will be key, as will coordination of dialogue, melody, lyric, and staging. We will also learn how to get work from auditioning, work on how to be the best you can be in a callback situation, discuss and practice a healthy rehearsal process, and eventually show off performance skills in a small and/or larger production, showcase, or cabaret style.
