DNP Project 1: DNP Project Planning

Catalog description

This course is designed to support and facilitate students in a clinical leadership experience through which they demonstrate the scholarship of practice at the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) level. Students synthesize the knowledge and skills gained from previous courses to demonstrate the integral relationship between scholarship and advanced practice nursing by working toward solving a clinical problem using an evidence-based, equitable, person-centered, primary health care framework. Building on the knowledge of primary health care and the social determinants of health, students will identify a clinical practice area to target for improvement as the foundation for the DNP project. In this first phase of the DNP project experience, student will explore the clinical practice area of interest within the context of a healthcare system. In addition, student will search for, critically appraise, and synthesize external evidence related to the problem to support evidence-based recommendations for practice change. This course emphasizes intra and interprofessional collaboration, consultation, and partnership development in identifying a practice problem for improvement within a selected clinical agency. Students will work as project teams under the mentorship of a faculty mentor and a clinical agency mentor.
