Advanced Theory and Practice IV for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Catalog description
This course is the synthesis of the student’s progressive development in health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute, critical, and/or complex chronic conditions for the adult and older adult population. Students will demonstrate advanced competencies in applying an evidence-based practice framework to the delivery of equitable, person-centered, primary health care for diverse populations across the continuum of acute care services. Students will evaluate outcomes within the context of the patient and family. The clinical practicum allows students to apply assessment and intervention strategies to assist patients with the maintenance and restoration of their highest level of health. Emphasis is placed on the consistent application of knowledge and evidence to patient care and the teaching of patients, families, and staff. The student will develop a professional identity that supports transition to role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.
