Catalog description

This course builds upon the student’s proficiency in acute care diagnosis and disease management of the adult and older adult from Advanced Theory and Practice I. Using an evidence-based practice framework to implement equitable, person-centered, primary health care, the student will assess, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and/or complex chronic conditions for diverse populations across the continuum of acute care services. Students will evaluate outcomes within the context of the patient and family. The clinical practicum allows students to apply assessment and intervention strategies to assist patients with the maintenance and restoration of their highest level of health. Emphasis is placed on interpreting and prioritizing clinical information and analysis of patient problems. The student will develop a professional identity that supports transition to role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.
