Catalog description
This course builds upon the student’s proficiency in health assessment, pathophysiology, and pharmacology of the adult and older adult. Using an evidence-based practice framework to implement equitable, person-centered, primary health care, the student will assess, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and/or complex chronic conditions for diverse populations across the continuum of acute care services. Students will evaluate outcomes within the context of the patient and family. The clinical practicum allows students to apply assessment and intervention strategies to assist patients with the maintenance and restoration of their highest level of health. Emphasis is placed on developing competencies in the gathering and reporting of information. The student will develop a professional identity that supports transition to role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner.
