Advanced Theory and Practice III for Family Nurse Practitioners

Catalog description

This course builds upon the student’s proficiency in diagnosis and disease management across the lifespan from Advanced Theory and Practice II. Using an evidence-based practice framework to implement equitable, person-centered, primary health care, the student will assess, diagnose, and manage acute episodic and chronic conditions as part of the provision of comprehensive health care for diverse populations in community and primary care settings. Students will evaluate outcomes within the context of the patient and family. The clinical practicum allows students to apply assessment and intervention strategies to assist patients with the maintenance and restoration of their highest level of health. Emphasis is placed on developing differential diagnoses and evidence-based, person-centered plans of care. The student will develop a professional identity that supports transition to the role of the family nurse practitioner.
