Catalog description
In this course students review the history of ethics/bioethics. Students focus on synthesizing ethical/legal concepts required for sound decision making in clinical practice. Ethical issues are examined in conjunction with pertinent case law and legal responsibility. The focus is on value clarification, the application of ethical theory, ethical decision-making models, and professional ethical standards. Emphasis is on the ethical obligations of professional nurses in their roles as citizens, members of a profession, providers of care, and designers and managers of care.
