Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to the theory and practice of reporting, evaluating and interacting with sources, newswriting, and story structure. Students gain hands-on experience in reporting using text, photos, audio and video. We also discuss digital media literacy, the differences between news and opinion writing, and legal and ethical issues related to news gathering.
