Catalog description

Introduction to the study of random processes; finite sample spaces, the role of assumptions in the formulation of probability models, probability models based on equally-likely outcomes, independent events, and conditional probability. Bayes' theorem, random variables, mathematical expectation; statistical applications of probability, introduction to sampling theory, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.Students must fulfill the prereq or be placed into the course. Not open to students who have completed MAT 117 or MAT 234 .
