Seminar on Historiography

Catalog description

Students will read a variety of historical works in order to understand the sources of historical knowledge and modes of historical expression. Students will become acquainted with a wide variety of techniques and analytical tools developed by historians. Students will examine debates among historians on major issues within the discipline and analyze the complex relationship between the past and the present in historical writing. Restrictions/Requirements: Junior or senior standing and 3 credits of History. Required for History majors. Recommended for History minors.
