Catalog description

This course will focus on the issues involved in the psychosocial and historical construction of gender and gender roles. We will analyze the nature and function of Francophone Caribbean feminist/feminine writing in woman's search for self-definition, and the way it represents the body and desire. The students will debate and explore issues such as feminism, racism, colonialism, independence, post independence, and other aspects of a multi-cultural society. Restrictions/Requirements: Completion of one 300-level French course.
