Introduction to World Regional Geography
Pace University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course introduces students to the field of geography through an examination of the world’s principal regions. Geographic regions are parts of the world that share a conceptual unity based on organizing principles such as physical, human, economic, and/or political characteristics. Throughout the semester, we will examine not only the principles that define regions like “Latin America,” but also the benefits and limitations of using such regional frameworks to understand our increasingly interconnected world. Students will develop a stronger understanding of the conditions and affairs of world regions, as well as a critical perspective on how geographic knowledge about the world is produced and used.
