Catalog description

This course provides candidates the opportunity to acquire the necessary experiences and to demonstrate their ability to effectively teach the Visual Arts in Prek -12 classroom settings. Throughout the course candidates develop and demonstrate skills in planning, instructing, and assessing Prek -12th students. Candidates learn to demonstrate competency in the knowledge, skills and dispositions to effectively teach the Visual Arts while under the guidance of schoolbased mentors and university-based clinical supervisors. The course provides candidates supervised teaching of the Visual Arts in PreK -12 classroom setttings as required by New York State Education Department. Requirements/Restriction: Registration is by permission only from the School of Education and obtained through successful completion of preceding courses and 100 hours of classroom fieldwork.
