Catalog description

This hands-on training course immerses students in applied engineering and technology development through lab-based experimentation and field applications using Blue CoLab’s Real-Time Tech Lab in Ossining-on-the-Hudson, 15 minutes from the Pleasantville campus. Transportation will be provided. Students will gain direct experience with the design, operation and deployment of a variety of emerging and essential technologies utilized in real-time and remote sensing, and the IoT peripherals that support them. By the end of the course, students will have hands-on proficiency in operating these technologies, designing solutions for real-world environmental challenges, and integrating engineering principles applied to environmental monitoring and technological problem solving.Specific areas of emphasis include: • Real-Time Water Sensors – The testing and monitoring water quality in real-world settings; • Air Quality Monitoring Systems – The use of atmospheric data collection and analysis; • Data Dashboard Design and Creation – Designing Grafana dashboards for the presentation and display of real-time data; • 3D Printing – Designing and fabricating components for environmental and engineering applications; • Drones and Drone Operation – Learning data capture, environmental surveillance, and flight techniques; • Computer Design & Construction – Assembling and programming computers for specialized applications.
