Catalog description

Mapping and Geographic information systems have become a necessary tool in decision making, visualization, and spatial analytics across a variety of disciplines and application domains including the sciences, humanities, business, social sciences and healthcare. Going beyond Google Maps, this introductory course introduces web and mobile-based mapping solutions. Through hands on projects, students will used web-based data to build web mapping GIS applications, build mobile applications for field collection, and analyze results using the latest industry tools, such as Google Maps, Social Explorer, and the ESRI web mapping platform, ArcGIS Online.
