Special Topic: International Accounting Field Study

Catalog description
The course initially addresses the unique challenges faced by companies engaged in international business, and explores topics such as foreign currency transactions, foreign exchange risk exposures, inflation, and the consolidation and translation of foreign currency financial statements in a multinational context. Subsequently, the course examines accounting and financial reporting issues prevalent in the contemporary global financial market. It also covers the convergence or harmonization of accounting standards and the fundamental principles of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Additionally, through a field trip to a selected country, students will develop an understanding of various environmental factors such as cultural, political, legal, and business influences that shape a country’s accounting system.
