Catalog description

=As the introductory course in the Public Law subfield this course begins with a discussion of the techniques of case briefs and legal writing. It then considers the history, structure and process of criminal law. Students are introduced to the elements of criminal liability (notably Actus Reus and Mens rea) and defenses to criminal liability (notably justification and excuse).
