Catalog description
Study of the bulk properties of matter and energy. Topics will include the properties of gases, the laws of thermodynamics and their application to physical and chemical systems, phase and chemical equilibria, rates of reactions and chemical kinetics. Required course for all chemistry majors. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week. Prerequisites: CHM 1024 General Chemistry II, MTH 2014 Calculus I and PHY 2114 College Physics I, or instructor permission. May co-register in MTH 2014 or PSY-2114.
