Catalog description

This course examines the methods and principles of supervising, mentoring, and coaching student teachers and other adults in early childhood care and education settings. This course will also cover the strategies and skills necessary to assess and support the development of adult learners as effective mentors, coaches and teachers. Students will learn to model reflective practice, cultural competency, ethical conduct, and constructive communication skills. Emphasizing the importance of individualized, relationship-and strengths-based approaches, this course will cover the characteristics and roles of effective supervisors, career requirements and pathways in early childhood education supervision, and use of evaluation in setting professional learning goals.
