Catalog description

30 hours of chemical dependency education is required to apply for the CDCA: Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant – Renewable certification. By completing this course, students will complete over 30 hours of chemical dependency specific education in the following areas: Substance Use Disorder (SUD) & Recovery Knowledge (5 hours), Counseling Procedures & Strategies as Applied to Those with SUD (8 hours), Group Process & Techniques (5 hours), Assessment & Diagnosis of SUD (3 hours), Treatment Planning (6 hours), and Legal and Ethical Issues Pertaining to Substance Use Disorder Professionals (3 hours). Additional trainings include Crisis Prevention and Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, Bridges out of Poverty. Co-requisite: SWK 102
