Catalog description
Usage of ultrasound equipment, scanning techniques, anatomy and physiology of the human body as it pertains to sonographic imaging of small parts, gynecologic and obstertric anatomy, and neonatal heads. The thyroid/neck, breast, both female and male reproductive systems, neonatal heads, soft tissues,along with fetal anatomy are emphasized. Correlation of pertinent history/assessment, laboratory tests, including other imaging modalities will be included. Interpersonal relationships of the imaging department and patient management/assessment skills will be discussed. Basic real-time scanning techniques and protocols for each topic will be emphasized during the laboratory time.Didactic objectives will be achieved through the use of the texts, films, supplemental reading materials, lecture, class discussion, internet and self-instructional units. Psychomotor objectives will be achieved through laboratory practice sessions enhanced by instructor evaluations. Co-requisite: RDT 241,BIO 211,BIO 215
