Ultrasound I

Catalog description
Introduces ultrasound equipment, scanning techniques, gross anatomy and topography of the human body as it pertains to sonographic imaging of the abdominal organs. The liver, gallbladder and biliary system, spleen, kidneys, vasculature and pancreas are the abdominal organs emphasized. Correlation of pertinent history/assessment, laboratory tests, including other imaging modalities as it relates to the topic will be included. Interpersonal relationships of the imaging department and patient management/ assessment skills will be discussed. Basic real-time scanning techniques and protocols ofeach topic will be emphasized. Didactic objectives will be achieved through the use of the texts, films supplemental reading materials, lectures, class discussions, Internet, and self-instruct- ional units. Psychomotor objectives will be achieved through laboratory practice sessions enhanced by instructor evaluations. Co-requisite: RDT 111,MTH 110,PHY 115
