Catalog description

This course builds on the foundational knowledge of functional anatomy and kinesiology. Disease etiology, medical diagnosis, and pharmacology of common musculoskeletal diseases and conditions encountered in physical therapy are discussed. Associated dysfunctions, treatment implications, therapeutic interventions for surgical and non-surgical recovery, documentation, patient/caregiver education, and care team management for the physical therapist assistant are explained. Special considerations across the lifespan are reviewed, and exercise programs are developed. Laboratory sessions provide application of learned skills.
