Catalog description

The first processing course in a sequence of three, this course covers injeciton molding of thermoplastic resins, the most widely-used processing method. Fundamental aspects of injection molding is stressed, including the interdependence between the process, the machine, plastic materials, tool and part design. The student gains a working knowledge of the components of different types of injection molding machines. Material selection, markets and applications for products and production costs are discussed as well as applicable finishing processes. Equipment safety concerns are stressed. Co-requisite: NONE
