System Security Capstone
Owens Community College · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course will provide the student with a hands-on project in System Security. The instructor will partner with a business or organization to investigate, understand, and offer solutions to a real-world problem faced by the business. If time allows, students may actually implement the security solution. If a real business is unavailable, scenarios based on real-world threats and current trends will be researched instead. Students learn how to identify security issues and flaws, research and suggest plausible solutions which follow industry standards and best practices, and plan for integration of the solution. Includes presentation to management of solution(s) consisting of services and utilities that monitor and enhance network performance. Emphasis will be placed on how to manage technology transitions, change management, project management and working with people who support the process.
