Catalog description
Trains the student using National Registry standards as a First Responder in the aspect of pre-hospital care for the sick and injured. Designed for students entering the public safety field. NOTE: This is a required course for students pursuing a career as a volunteer, part-time, paid, government firefighter or as a private or industrial firefighter. Students taking FST 268 are required to take an additional elective (for a total of twelve FST elective credit hours). FST 270 may be substituted for FST 268 without taking the additional 3 Credits of FST elective. Note: Students who successfully complete the Classroom and practical skills components and meet the national Certification prerequisites (High School graduate and age 18), will be able to take the national examination to obtain certification as a First Responder.
