Catalog description
This course prepares the student to embark on a rewarding career in the drinking water treatment profession. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency requires all operators at domestic drinking water treatment facilities to be licensed. In this course, the student will learn the competencies required to succeed on the examination necessary for the Ohio class I operator license. Subject matter includes source water characteristics, the treatment process, equipment operation and maintenance, laboratory analysis and regulatory compliance. Application of basic math skills to relevant water treatment calculations will be covered. Note: the license examination is not offered during this class and is not required for completion.
