Air Pollution

Catalog description

The course will provide students with the basic skills needed to understand and monitor ambient as well as indoor air pollutants. Basic atmospheric science will be reviewed to identify the role of air movement in the dispersion and transport of pollutants. The effects of air pollutants on humans and the environment, and an understanding of national and global regulation of air pollution will be discussed. Laboratory work will stress the theory of air monitoring as well as hands on experience in operating and maintaining ambient air monitors. Computer modeling will be used to help develop a model air compliance plan. Co-requisite: NONE
