Catalog description

Focuses upon the emergency management of traumatically injured adult and pediatric patients. Included in Paramedic I are the skills necessary to perform these tasks including endotracheal intubation, intravenous cannulation, fluid resuscitation, needle decompression, surgical airway maneuver, and stablization of bleeding hemorrhage and fractures. These skills and practiced in the classroom (laboratory) setting under close supervision and then in the clinical settings in emergency departments and surgical suits. Note: Approval of department chairperson required to enroll in this course. Co-requisite: NONE
