Catalog description

Provides students with effective communication skills for the nutrition care and management of individuals and groups of all ages in a changing cultural climate. Includes recommendations for healthy individuals and those for whom medical nutrition therapy (the use of specific nutrition services to treat illness, injury or health conditions) is indicated. Focuses on assessment of educational needs, evaluation of educational outcomes, and preparation/ implementation of an educational plan. Targets cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and GI disorders. Includes nutrition education in the community setting. Co-requisite: DTT 102, DTT 190, BIO 211
