Because the construction and the inspection of hot mix asphalt pavements is a significant part of the operations in ODOT, it is necessary to have many well-trained technicians to make certain that the asphalt pavements are constructed in compliance with the Construction and Material Specifications, the plans, and the proposals. This course is designed to give Highway Technicians important information that is useful in performing the job of overseeing the construction of hot mix asphalt pavements. The six lesions cover six of the areas of knowledge that are needed to better understand the hot mix asphalt construction operation and thus prepare the technician for better performance of his or her job. Even though some technicians may not be directly involved with one or more of the subjects, the knowledge of these subjects can be helpful in understanding the overall operation. Co-requisite: NONE
