SWK Pract: Assess & Diagnosis

Catalog description

The course examines the diagnostic criteria in the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (currently DSM-5 TR). With the generalist assessment skills as the foundation for this course, students will be taught how to further engage and assess clients who are experiencing mental illness as defined by the DSM. They will understand the influence of cultural, spiritual, and social aspects of clients' intersectional lives and how those play a role in their behaviors.
