This course, designed for the registered nurse student who is advancing towards the baccalaureate level, acknowledges and enhances prior nursing preparation. This course builds upon assessment skills and decision making competencies in the practical application of health assessment as the basis for nursing intervention and practice. It integrates the essentials for communication, professionalism, safety, quality care, and evidence -based care. The student will refine knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to perform a health assessment within the context of the nursing process. The focus is on core competencies that will bridge the RN to baccalaureate education. This course addresses relevant criteria of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing - The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice (http://www.aacnnursing.org/Education-Resources/AA CN-Essentials) and the Elms College School of Nursing curriculum competencies.
