Introduces economic principles central to sustainability and sustainable development. Explores how theory, institutions, and incentives contribute to understanding sustainability challenges as well as shedding light on potential solutions. Utilizes tools like benefit-cost analysis and ecosystem valuation, while examining how economics informs and connects with ecology, ethics, and other social sciences. Analyzes policies and collective actions that promote resilience, equity, and long-term wellbeing across diverse social and ecological contexts at local, national and global scales through real-world case studies.
