Introduces ethical theory and the evaluation of contemporary moral problems in the Western intellectual tradition. Includes the study of philosophical theories such as utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, social contract theory, feminist ethics. Includes topics of moral responsibility, cultural relativism, and other philosophical ideas behind ethical debates in society. Encourages students to develop their own positions on ethical issues.
