Catalog description

Examines circulation of coastal oceans including continental shelf circulation, surface and bottom boundary layers, upwelling, coastal jets, undercurrents, and coastal-trapped waves. Presents fundamentals of surface waves and tides, tsunamis, wind generation, and breaking waves. Discusses estuary classification and circulation patterns, and longer-term variability of coastal oceans associated with El Niño and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation using examples from the Pacific Northwest.
