Explores the intricate relationships between organisms and their environments, emphasizing the physiological adaptations that allow plants and animals to survive diverse environmental conditions. Examines water and salt balance, temperature regulation, oxygen acquisition and energy budgets. Discusses integrative systems that coordinate physiological responses as well as causes and consequences of failure.
