Examines the politics, culture, and society of Europe from World War I to the present. Themes include total war; ways that art and literature influenced politics; communist and fascist visions of the relationship of the individual to the society or collective; racial theories and genocide; the cold war division of Europe into East and West; decolonization; and the development of the European Community.
