Analyzes the francophone cultures and politics among French-speaking communities of the United States (such as Louisiana and New England), from the colonial era to the present. Investigates issues like minority status, marginalization, language and diglossia, women’s conditions, and migration. Applies theoretical approaches to diverse genres, including historical and contemporary texts, novels, poems, songs and documentary films. Examines types of systemic oppression within historical contexts and main course themes. Taught in French.
